9 days:Primates Safari
Day 1: NGAMBA ISLAND
Take a visit to the chimpanzees’ island! This day trip includes boat transportation from Entebbe, UWEC visits and viewing of chimpanzees being fed on the visitors’ plat form and viewing of traditional fishing villages. You will be picked up from your hotel in Entebbe in the morning and then take a boat ride to the Island. Upon arrival at Ngamba Island, you will be greeted by the duty caregiver of the Chimpanzees and then after you will be able to view and photograph these fascinating apes in their natural environment from only a few metres away! In the afternoon you will take a boat ride back to Entebbe and return to your hotel for dinner and over night.
Day 2: ENTEBBE - KIBALE NATIONAL PARK
Take break fast and drive westwards towards Fort Portal. From Fort Portal we will continue to Kibale National Park for a stay within the tropical forest. With lush tropical rainforest and intriguing diversity of animals, Kibale National park is one of the gorgeous and marvelous forests in Uganda. Certainly, the forest is worth protecting because it is a home to the largest number of Man’s closet relatives the Chimpanzees. This town rests in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and is well know for the many tea plantations. Dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale/ Ndali Lodge/ Rwenzori View Guest Houseor for budget your will stay at Sky tree House.
Day 3: KIBALE NATIONAL PARK & BIGODI SWAMP
Today we assemble at Kanyankyu river Camp at 0800 hours as we prepare for the Chimpanzee walk. Kibale Forest is reputable of having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa. Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzee, red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey and many others. Take lunch and then move to Bigodi swamp for your nature walk. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and takes approximately two hours. The swamp is known for its rich diversity of birds and Flora. overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale.
Day 4: To- QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
In this morning as we drive towards Queen Elizabeth, we will take a visit to the crater Lakes region then after continue to Queen Elizabeth national park. It is a marvelous route with a beautiful panorama via Kasese, with the green valley on the left and the Rwenzori Mountains on your right side. A game drive en route gives you a chance to spot warthogs, waterbucks, and other wildlife. Dinner and overnight at Institute of Ecology Hostel or Jacana Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge.
Day 5: QUEEN ELIZABETH NATIONAL PARK
We begin this day with a game drive to the mating ground of the Uganda kobs along the Kasenyi Miles Track. We search for lions, buffaloes, elephants, and other wild animals in their natural habitat, before returning for lunch. Take lunch and after go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural water way between Lake Edward and Lake George. Thanks to the elephants, buffaloes drinking water along the shores and hundreds of hippos. Retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 6: To - BWINDI
This morning we go for Chimp tracking in Kyambura Wildlife Reserve. Driving through a grassland area, suddenly, we come across an astonishing gorge of a hundred meters deep, sheltered with tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura River and seek for the wild chimpanzees. Depart from Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive via Ishasha sector towards Bwindi. The panoramic route runs through a lush countryside while you pass traditional homesteads and farms. You will arrive at Bwindi in the evening for dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Bandas or Gorilla resort Camp.
Day 7: BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK
Today after breakfast we go gorilla tracking the main theme and highlight of the safari!!! The ranger guide always briefs you on how to behave with these giant apes
Expect to trek as long as the area where the gorillas may be. The time taken to track these primates is unpredictable however. Trekkers will love the tracking in this beautiful eco system. An encounter of these gentle giants of Bwindi with the silver backs is exhilarating! Especially hikers will love the tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. Observe them closely while they play, eat, and rest. For conservation purposes, time spent with the gorillas is limited to one hour..
Day 8: To - KAMPALA
We start the long but worthwhile drive back to Kampala. On our way we will visit the Mpigi Royal Drums Makers and certainly the Equator, take pictures and shop souvenir. With lunch on our way we will reach Kampala by the end of the day. Dinner and over night in your hotel in Kampala
Day9: DEPARTURE
Augmented with an experience of a lifetime and etched in your mind memories you will visit the city attractions. Like Namugongo martyrs’ shrine, Kasubi Tombs, Rubaga and Namirembe Hill, and national theatre the Uganda Museum and surely the African Craft Village. Later we will transfer you to the air port for your flight back home.
